Karate for Christ
In the late 1960's and 1970's, one of
the best martial demonstrator's in the world, Mike Crain, was winning
thousands of people to Christ and introducing many others to the martial
arts. I remember Mr. Crain smashing his head, hands, elbows and
feet through wood, concrete, brick and ice. He would captivate
audiences by cutting a watermelon off of a volunteer's stomach with
a samurai sword - while blindfolded.
Mr. Crain's ministry would be to share
the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He also offered a karate camp for
those interested in learning martial arts.
Mike Crain also had a booklet of his
ministry, displaying dozens of self defense techniques. What should
be noticeable is the black uniforms (Kenpo was one of the few systems
that used a black uniform). Also, practitioners of the Tracy System
and the Parker System should recognize many of the self defense techniques.
I do not know what system of Kenpo that Mike Crain practiced, but if
